Privacy Notice

We appreciate your trust in us and handle the personal data you entrust to us with greatest care, employing the highest security standards to prevent unauthorised access. Your order, the personal data and your details for handling payment are protected by technical security systems and additional authorisation procedures, both during data transfer and when the data is stored on our servers. Our data privacy and protection regulations comply with the German Data Protection (BDSG) and Telemedia (TMG) legislation.

1. Use of your data

When processing data, your information is always protected in accordance with statutory regulations. We use your personal data to process orders, to maintain customer contact and, insofar as necessary, we also transfer it to third parties, e.g. suppliers. Data exchange with service companies and Schufa may possibly take place for the purpose of a credit assessment.

2. Our technical standards

For data transfer we use the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) security system in conjunction with 256-bit encryption. This method provides maximum security and therefore also used by banks for data protection for online banking. You recognise that data is being transferred in encrypted form by the display of a key or closed padlock icon in the lower status bar of your browser.

The connection is encrypted by means of high-grade encryption (AES-256 256 bit); the key exchange takes place using RSA 1024 bit.

3. Authorisation, changing and deleting personal data

You can view, edit or delete your own data at any time in the "Mein Konto" (My Account) area using your email address and your password. We offer a special service if you forget your password: In the log-in page on the right of the "Mein Konto" area you will find a "Passwort nicht mehr parat" (Forgotten Password) link which takes you to a form that you can complete and send to us, specifying the email address you gave us. We will send a replacement password to this address. There is also no risk here from a third party attempting to access your data by knowing your email address because the password is always sent to an email address for which only you have access.

Please note: You should not reveal your password to third parties, you should always log out from your personal account after you have used it, and you should use SSL encryption for order processing whenever we offer it.

4. Use of cookies

Cookies are small files which are used as identifiers. We transfer these onto your computer's hard disk by means of your web browser and can access them during a current visit to the MTU Shop or for any subsequent visit. Our cookies are read protected against third parties by using your browser's security features. While our session cookies are unencrypted, in the case of permanent cookies we make use of pseudonomysation to protect your data. Cookies enable our systems to recognise your browser and, for example, to manage the frequency of any special offer advertising. In this way we prevent unnecessary advertising and tailor our offerings to your interests.

The Help function in the menu bar of most web browsers explains to you how you can prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how you get your browser to indicate when you receive a new cookie, and also how you can disable all the cookies you have received. However, we recommend that you should enable the cookie functions fully, because only with cookies can our ad placements be controlled in a meaningful manner.

Information which we receive with the help of cookies is used solely to customise our offering to customer requirements as precisely as possible and to make surfing on our site as convenient for you as possible.

5. Use of count pixels

Information about our customers is extremely important for us and helps us to optimise our internet pages on an ongoing basis. For this reason we employ count pixels (small graphics) on our pages. When a page is opened, the count pixel is loaded from a server on the internet and registered with us employing the IP address you use and possibly your cookie ID. This enables us to see which internet pages on our website are visited by our customers and what activities are performed. They help us get to know our customers better and to constantly enhance the shopping experience in the MTU Shop.

We also use the information obtained for targeted placement of our internet advertising on advertising websites. For this purpose we also transfer count pixel information to particular, trustworthy partner companies.

If you do not want any automatic personalised evaluation, you can cancel this function in writing at any time. In this case cookies will still be set (to exclude you from the evaluation), but your person-related data is then no longer evaluated by us.

6. Use of personalised links in the Newsletter

In our Newsletter we can transfer to you personalised pictures (in the HTML Newsletter) and personalised links. In subscribing to our Newsletter you agree that when the pictures are called automatically in your email program, or by a link being actively clicked, it will be possible for us to trace automatically what content in our Newsletter is particularly interesting for you. These evaluations enable us to learn from you and consequently to provide you with offerings which correspond to what you want. Naturally we employ such evaluations exclusively for the purpose of enhancing what we offer and do not pass this data on to third parties.

If you do not want this, our Newsletter is also available to you in text format only. Here an evaluation takes place solely by actively clicking a personalised link. At the end of each Newsletter you will find a link which enables you to modify the format in a user-friendly manner. If you do not want any automatic personalised evaluation, you can cancel this function in writing at any time.

7. Right to information, authorisation, deletion and blocking of your data

When requested, we provide you, free of charge, with the personal data that we have stored about you. If you require this, please notify us at one of the addresses or on the number specified below or contact us in person. We are also obliged, on request, to correct, block or delete the data concerning you which we have stored.

8. Objection clause in the context of data collection
